Week one

Hello friends, just dropping in with an update on my journey that started one week ago and has been an enjoyable adventure thus far. Leaving my home in Texas was bittersweet, as I knew it would be. Leaving friends and family is not a strength of mine but I took baby steps leaving and slowly dragged myself from a dear friend in Wichita Falls, through Amarillo enjoying both Volkswagen ranch and Cadillac ranch on my way through. New Mexico greeted me with strong winds, cool rain and the most impressively loud thunder I have ever heard that filled the vast spaces between the mesas. The colorful rows of plateaus led me through the thunderstorm to a falling sun that lit the skyline with brilliant rich color. After driving through Santa Fe's national forests, I rested with some loving family friends in Espanola that night at the foot of the Black Mesa. After good conversation, good food, and goodbyes I continued on north to Colorado the next morning taking in the endlessly breathtaking national parks. Eventually making it up to the city of Pueblo I briefly rejoined mankind for a drink at a small local bar then back out west to camp out under a brilliant full moon in Echo park. Through Colorado I continued to roll through grand, lush mountains, winding alongside rivers that carved through the rock and stopping in the wonderfully pleasant and quaint small towns that are nestled between the endless mountains and streams. Wasting plenty of time taking in the cool air and stunning colors that speckled and streaked the path through the national parks, I ended the day in the Gunnison National forest and spent time exploring the intensly impressive Black Canyon of the Gunnison. After spending ample amounts of time being enchanted by Colorado's array of beauty and scenery, I finally made my way back down through the native territories of New Mexico and Arizona eventually winding my way through the parks and drizzling rain to Phoenix to spend some time with my bonus family. With some joy rides I became more familiar with the beauty of desert life and It's Impressive range of cacti. Today I leave the desert and head north to Big Bear lake and the Sequoia parks of California for greener sights. That's all for now, excited to share more with you all next week!
