"Neither Created nor Destroyed"
"The first law of thermodynamics, also known as Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another. For example, turning on a light would seem to produce energy; however, it is electrical energy that is converted."
This new series of painings is an interpretation of the beauty in our connections, our linkage with the world around us and the energy that will pass from these seemingly disconnected things. Energy transfers between all things and is represented in all forms of science from biology and geology to astronomy. It is the light that touches the flesh of these figures and wraps through the jagged stone mountains and spreads up through the star studded cosmos. This body of work is about the energy that exists in everything- light, heat, chemical, electrical. It is this energy that we pass to one another in the most intimate and subtle ways, and also in the unavoidable and deafening explosions we share.
